example,we received comments and
complaints about the following:
1) The 3 Strikes Law as being cruel and unusual punishment.
2) About the lack of a well structured and congruent penalty level system
(lesser crimes being penalized more than worse crimes).
3) The long wait (e.g. 10 or more years in some cases) to get an visa from the
United States.
4) Some visa petitioners with approved status have no rights until a
visa is issued. Therefore, cannot leave the United States using an
advance parole. This is important since there are times when family
emergencies occur and the person needs to leave temporarily.
5) The continuous legislative attacks on foreigners/undocumented people.
Examples: The HR4437 proposal to criminalize undocumented people, the
raids by immigration officials at employer facilities, police placing
check points at Hispanic communities to ask for driver documents.
